Reflection on Luke 16:19–26
I’m Rev Jay Stuart Glover and you are listening to Faith Talk
We are currently at a point in our history where the poor are being subjected to even greater suffering, economic disparity continues to grow while human need is no longer relevant to those calling the shots. So today we are reminded of Jesus’ parable of the rich man and Lazarus.
Today’s reflection comes from the Gospel of Luke, chapter 16, verses 19 through 26 a story that still speaks with unsettling relevance in our time.
This parable isn’t just about the afterlife—it’s about how we live now.
It’s about the moral blindness that can set in when privilege shields us from the pain of others. And how the rich and powerful can become desensitized to sacred human life.
It’s about the danger of walking past the suffering that sits right outside our own gate.
