I’m Rev. Jay Stuart Glover—welcome to Faith Talk.
Today, I want to speak directly to something that many people wrestle with—especially youth and young adults—and that is prayer.
If I were to title this episode, it would be: “When Prayer Feels Difficult.”
Let’s be honest—sometimes, prayer feels like a difficult space to enter into. It's not always easy. In fact, if we’re being real, it can sometimes feel like a task we’d rather avoid.
Maybe you’ve been there. Maybe you're there right now.
Why Prayer Feels Difficult
Prayer can feel difficult for many reasons. Sometimes we put off the prayer until the end of the day when we are exhausted and we simply cross it off of our to do list.
For some, it’s not something we do regularly—so when the time comes, we don’t know what to say.

We may feel unprepared, unsure, or just uncomfortable. Our “prayer language,” if we have one at all, might feel clumsy or underdeveloped. And in public settings—like a church prayer meeting—that can make us even more reluctant to participate. Those are a few reasonable impediments to our prayer life:
But I believe there’s a deeper spiritual issue we need to consider. One that can block us from praying altogether and
That Deeper Issue is: Our Image of God
Prayer becomes difficult when we have an unhealthy image of God, and an unhealthy image of ourselves in relation to God.

If today’s reflection spoke to you, I encourage you to share it with someone who might need to hear it. And if you’d like to hear more reflections like this, subscribe to Faith Talk and follow along on your favorite podcast platform.

You pray for me, and I’ll pray for you.
