I’m Rev Jay Stuart Glover and you are listening to Faith Talk
Today I would like to pause and offer a brief reflection on our Juneteenth celebrations.
We know that at the core of the Juneteenth celebration is the theme of “freedom.”
But as we have faithfully gathered to remember and celebrate, we are reminded that we have not come together to celebrate a freedom already perfected or fully realized. No.
We have gathered, remembered and celebrated the unyielding internal flame of hope that sustains us along our journey.
We celebrate a freedom not granted by a government-issued document,
but a freedom born in our hearts and minds—
A freedom that calls us to heal, restore, and uplift communities still burdened by injustice and inequality.
I’m talking about a freedom within—
a freedom that moves us, inspires us to participate in the mending of what forced suffering has torn
As a man of faith, I believe God longs for the liberation of all people—
liberation from every force that tries to enslaves us, and tries to dim the divine light within us. Share with family and friends, leave your comments
