“ A Fruit That Endures”
I’m Rev. Jay Stuart Glover and you are listening to Faith Talk
We are living in a world on edge.
The proclivity towards violence is intensifying. The poor are pushed further to the margins, their cries drowned out by the lust for power and profit. And division — fueled by fear, economics and politics — cuts deep into communities, churches, and even families.
In times like these, we are tempted to react in kind — with hardness, with haste, with despair and even with the dangerous an eye for an eye type of thinking.
But the Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Galatians, offers a different way.
He writes, in Galatians 5:22–23:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
These are not soft virtues. They are a form of radical resistance.
